Ein Ohr in die Vergangenheit 2: Tina Turner

Nachdem die Schweizer Illustrierte mich um einen Kommentar zur Musik von Tina Turner anfragte, bin ich wieder mal in mein persönliches Archiv gestiegen. Hier ist ein Ausschnitt aus der Pressekonferenz, die Tina Turner am 19. September 1986 in Zürich gegeben hat. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt war sie auf dem Zenith: Ihr Comeback-Album Private Dancer schlug alle Rekorde, das zweite Album Break Every Rule war soeben veröffentlicht, sie hatte mit What's Love Got To Do With It ihre allererste Nummer eins in den US-Charts und mit der Autobiografie I Tina wollte sie ein für alle Mal alle Gerüchte rund um ihr Leben aus dem Weg schaffen. Was mir gefällt an diesem Dokument: Da war Tina Turner noch nicht 47, heute ist sie bald 70 aber die Fragen waren und sind immer noch dieselben: Privatleben, Vergangenheit, jung sein und bleiben:)

Leonard Cohens "Hallelujah" - Interview 1991

Just after listening to the documentary BBC Radio2 did on the impact of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" on so many musicians, I went AGAIN to that cupboard, where I store my treasures from the past and copied what the master said on John Cale's version of "Hallelujah". Cale's cover was pretty new then: the interview took place in Leonard Cohen's livingroom in Los Angeles and it was October 1991. And this is, what Cohen said: Listen to this wonderfull live-version of Hallelujah And some years later - it was in May 1997 - I met John Cale and asked him about Leonard Cohen's Song. What strikes me now, listening to his statement: He didn't seem to like the song very much, mainly because of it's religous connotations ... Both gentlemen gave very short answers about the other person ...
